The Fragments of Asterion Collection

Written by an Australian clinical psychologist with more than 20 years' experience treating trauma-related conditions, the Fragments of Asterion Collection lets you feel what is like to live within a system that is fracturing and struggling to adapt following a traumatic event. It also explores how connections to those outside of ourselves can initially destabilise our system.

BOOK 2 - FRAGMENTS OF ASTERION: BENEATH THE HULL Recommended reading after Book One. Beneath the Hull returns to the ship, the crew and the spaces between them, examining the trauma psychology, system theory, Internal Family Systems and neuroscience woven through the story. Each chapter revisits a different aspect of the novel and answers the questions many readers find themselves asking. Through a close reading of the crew's relationships, conflicts and turning points, this companion examines how the mind protects itself after overwhelming experience, why protective responses sometimes outlast the danger that created them, and what it takes for a system to begin trusting itself again. You do not need a background in psychology to read this book. You only need to have spent time aboard Asterion.

BOOK 3 - FRAGMENTS OF ASTERION: THE FINAL CONVERGENCE. Book 1 was about trusting the self. Book 3 is about trusting others. When a second vessel enters Asterion's orbit, two crews are forced into proximity that destabilises everything the first book built. Told through a rotating three-POV structure spanning real-world encounters, inter-ship chaos and the interior life of a couples therapist managing her own system in real time, Book 3 asks the harder question: can you stay integrated when someone else's architecture collides with yours?
