Jamie James
A solid backbeat, a rockin' groove, a tasty guitar riff, and a few simple words - and presto, you have Jamie James' Steppin' Back 1999! This is the second set of original songs from the Jamie James Steppin' Back series of albums, presented by Oglio Entertainment. "Crank it up until your ears start to bleed!"
Welcome to 1988! Steppin' Back is exactly what it sounds like - a time machine. Ten original Jamie James songs, recorded the old-fashioned way: guitar, bass, drums, plug in, hit record, and rock. No tricks, no overthinking. Just the pure energy of a band locked in a room and going for it. As we sang in "Rox Off" - "there's a Danger Zone called Rock n' Roll" - and back in '88, we were living right in the middle of it. This one was a blast to make. Thanks to Oglio Records for bringing it back to life.
Guitarist, singer, and songwriter Jamie James has had a rich and varied musical career, best known for his work with Dennis Quaid and The Sharks, his long-time collaborations with the late Harry Dean Stanton, his role as a touring member of Steppenwolf in the late ’70s, and as the lead singer and founding member of the LA-based rockabilly trio The Kingbees—the band behind the hit “My Mistake.” On his 10-track solo LP, Straight Up, James reunites with his DQ and The Sharks bandmates—Tom Walsh (drums), Ken Stange (organ), and Tom Mancillas (bass)—with Jamie on guitar and harmonica.
